Clarifications of massive misinformation and misunderstandings on GOLO

GOLO is the medium that WRAL uses when readers on their website want to comment. Here are two issues that need clarification:

First, the town manager is not listed on the salary grade matrix because he is on contract. He does not automatically get the standard employee cost of living and merit increases.

Second, there were gripes about the fire chiefs salary. The fire chief is a salary grade 89 and the published salary falls between the median and high range. The town calibrates it's salaries periodically to determine it's fairness and competitiveness against other like municipalities.

Many of the other issues mentioned in these postings involved alleged knowledge of corruption, which no one was willing to disclose even on a forum where identities can be hidden. Over my years in Holly Springs many people had stories about days gone by that they were unwilling to share.
