Should you expect elected officials to complete their term?

In the N&O, there was a story about two county commissioners who may abandon their seats after being duly elected by voters. Comm. Stan Norwalk will likely resign due to health concerns and he also states that he will move closer to family in Kansas. Norwalk was elected to his first term a few years ago at the age of 77. Comm. Tony Gurley is considering running for Lt. Governor and would have to abandon his seat if elected to that seat.

Rosa Gill resigned her seat on the Wake School Board to accept an appointment to the state senate. Beverley Clark resigned from her school board seat in 2009 citing personal reasons.

The term for a Holly Springs Mayor and Councilman is 4 years. This may be a good question to ask candidates this fall: Do you intend to serve all 4 years of your term?
