Public input on the 2011-12 town budget

We are fortunate here in Holly Springs that the town actually seeks our input. Granted, anyone at any time, via most any media, can provide the town council with input on how our tax money should be spent. However, the town council actually puts aside a time specifically for citizen input.

In the past, very few people have participated in this process. Some have even used this period of time to announce their intention of running for office, inappropriately enough. I do encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity, but make sure you use the time properly and effectively.

I expect that some people will ask questions like, "will you including money for x?". Please understand that this is the time to tell the town council what you want to see or not see in the budget, not ask if something will be in the budget, because this is the input that staff will use while preparing the budget.
